WHEY PROTEIN ISOLATE

Protein forms the building blocks for your muscle tissue, so without it your body would lack a critical component needed for muscle to even exist. Whey is one of the best absorbed forms of protein in the body, even higher than chicken or fish.

What is whey protein isolate?

Whey protein isolate (WPI) is the purest form of whey protein powder available. It is derived from cow’s milk and is essential for muscle repair, growth and strength. In contrast to whey protein concentrate, WPI has a much higher pure protein content of over 90%. WPI also contains little to no fat, lactose or cholesterol.

Why take WPI?

Protein is used for the production of muscles. Proteins are also used to manufacture hormones, enzymes, cellular messengers, nucleic acids, and immune-system components. Without adequate protein, our bodies cannot put together the structures that make up every cell, tissue, and organ, nor can it generate the biochemical substances needed for cardiovascular function, muscle contraction, growth, and healing. Without an adequate amount of protein our muscles would not heal up as quickly and could therefore lead to overtraining your muscle which could lead to injury.

When do I take WPI?

After a workout is one of the best time to get protein into the body so that the protein can be delivered to your muscles, to begin healing the micro tears (very small tears in the muscle tissue, caused by intense contraction of the muscle during workout) in the muscle. Post-workout, WPI should be taken as it is absorbed rapidly, so that the synergistic insulin response is maximised – this allows muscle breakdown to diminish so that synthesis can dominate and you can get quickly back into building muscle the next day. Benefits of having a whey protein shake After a workout is one of the best times to get protein into the body. Here, protein can be delivered to your muscles and begin healing the micro tears (very small tears in the muscle tissue, caused by intense contraction of the muscle during workout). Because solid food takes more time to digest and to break down the protein and send it to the muscles, it can be best to take a protein shake immediately following a workout. Protein, through liquid nutrition (your shake) is more rapidly digested and absorbed, thus nutrients are more rapidly delivered to your muscles.

BLENDED PROTEIN

As the name suggests, protein blends are a combination of several protein sources. The combination of two or more protein sources allows the user to benefit from sustained protein release, fast release protein, and a more complete amino acid profile. Protein blends can be used post workout, between meals and before bed. If you want the benefits of several protein sources in one powder, you need a protein powder blend.

BRANCHED CHAIN AMINO ACIDS(BCAA’S)

There are three branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs): leucine, isoleucine and valine. All three are essential amino acids, meaning that they must come from the foods we eat because the body cannot synthesize them from other amino acids.BCAAs serve very important purposes in the body.

First, high levels of BCAAs in blood help conserve stores of glutamine, a nonessential but major amino acid with regard to muscle growth. Second, BCAAs serve as a significant fuel source for skeletal muscle during periods of metabolic stress. If you are exercising intensely, you are experiencing metabolic stress. When the body is under stress, BCAAs act directly on muscle cells and promote protein synthesis (muscle growth)–the goal of all bodybuilders. Third, BCAAs help prevent protein catabolism (muscle breakdown) by acting as a readily available fuel source for hard-working muscles during intense exercise.

CREATINE

Creatine Monohydrate is the supplement which has assisted bodybuilders & athletes to gain more size & strength legally than any other supplement in history

What is creatine?

Creatine is a natural component of skeletal muscle. It is formed naturally in our bodies from the amino acids arginine, methionine & glycine via a chemical process.

Where is creatine found?

Small amounts of creatine can be found naturally in foods such as chicken, beef, fish, dairy products & nuts. However, supplementation is the only way to gain enough creatine to reap the bodybuilding rewards. . As a supplement, creatine is consumed as creatine monohydrate.

How does creatine work?

Intra-cellular water retention: Basically, once the creatine is stored inside the muscle cell, it attracts the water surrounding such cell thereby enlarging it. This super hydrated state of the cell causes nice side effects such as the increase of strength and it also gives the appearance of a fuller muscle. Some studies suggest that a super hydrated cell may also trigger protein synthesis and minimize catabolism.

Ability to enhance ATP production: Creatine provides for faster recovery in between sets and increased tolerance to high volume work. The way it does this is by enhancing the body’s ability to produce Adenosine Triphosphate (ATP). ATP is the compound that your muscles use for fuel whenever they contract. ATP provides its energy by releasing one of its phosphate molecules (it has three phosphate molecules). After the release of such molecule, ATP becomes ADP (Adenosine Diphosphate) as it now only has two molecules. The problem is that after 10 seconds of contraction time the ATP fuel extinguishes and in order to support further muscle contraction glycolisis (glycogen burning) has to kick in. That is fine and well except for the fact that as a byproduct of that mechanism lactic acid is produced. Lactic acid is what causes the burning sensation at the end of the set. When too much lactic acid is produced, your muscle contractions stop, thereby forcing you to stop the set. However, by taking creatine, you can extend the 10 second limit of your ATP system as creatine provides ADP the phosphate molecule that it is missing (recall that creatine is stored in the muscle as creatine phosphate). By upgrading your body’s ability of regenerating ATP, you can exercise longer and harder as you will minimize your lactic acid production and you will be able to take your sets to the next level and reduce fatigue levels. More volume, strength and recovery equals more muscle (assuming nutrition and rest are dialed in).

Why take creatine?

To sum up the above, creatine’s main purpose is to supply energy to our muscles. It enhances the ability for muscles to store glycogen, a carbohydrate that sits inside your muscles and is used as a fuel for anaerobic activity. Creatine makes available the extra muscle-building energy you need to get a more effective power workout. But you must workout. When you max out your muscles in a workout you build your bulk. Creatine has been attributed to lean muscle and strength gains, as well as giving a great pump. At the same time, creatine can assist in recovery & greatly improve anaerobic sporting performance.

L-GLUTAMINE

L-glutamine, also called simply glutamine, is the most plentiful amino acid in the human body. L-glutamine is not considered an essential amino acid as the body can produce it. Sometimes, however, your body uses glutamine at a rate more rapid than it can be made. In these situations, an L-Glutamine supplement can help replenish L-glutamine.

What does L-Glutamine do?

Glutamine assists to prevent the breakdown of muscles. In fact, hospitals frequently administer glutamine as medication to cancer, AIDS and burns patients to reduce muscle wasting. The body burns up its store of glutamine when it is under stress. Physical exercise puts immense stress on the body, which is why it is one of the most popular supplements available to bodybuilders.

Why take L-Glutamine?

Glutamine boosts metabolism and fat burning. Not only does it increase fat burning when taken before and during exercise, it also boosts your resting metabolic rate. Glutamine’s effect on immune function helps you stay healthy so you do not miss workouts. By improving muscle recovery, glutamine allows you to hit the gym more frequently with less muscle soreness. Taking even small amounts of L-glutamine increases the secretion of growth hormone, which is a potent fat burning substance.

How does the body use L-Glutamine?

Cells throughout the body need L-glutamine to function normally. Both immune system and endothelial cells, which are abundant in the gastrointestinal tract, need a regular source of L-glutamine. L-glutamine is needed for cell division, and cells lining the intestinal tract and of the immune system often divide at rapid rate. Cell division is especially important when you are ill, worn out from strenuous exercise, injured or have undergone surgery because cells need to divide to replace damaged cells and help mount an immune response. Therefore, your body may require more L-glutamine than it can make during these times of physical stress. Eating foods rich in this amino acid will aid in your recovery.

ACETYL L-CARNITINE

One of the body’s own natural fat burners in the body is carnitine and supplementing with it has not only shown that it increases fat oxidation without any stimulatory effects, but it also improves performance and recovery.

What is Acetyl L-Carnitine?

Acetyl L-carnitine is an amino acid naturally manufactured in the body through the conversion of L-carnitine and used by cells to produce fuel for energy. It is also involved in a variety of processes that regulate muscle movement and heart and brain function.

What does Acetyl L-Carnitine do?

Acetyl L-Carnitine supports the tissues in your body that rely on fatty acids to remain healthy. The nutrient transports fat to the cells that need it. In the cells, carnitine is metabolized into energy. Once fuel production is finished, carnitine also takes any toxic byproducts generated during energy production away.

Benefits of Acetyl L-Carnitine

• Burn fat: Acetyl L-carnitine’s major role in the human body is to bind to fat cells and carry them to the mitochondria of cells where the fat cells are used as fuel. Because L-Carnitine aids in fat loss, it is of particular benefit to weightlifters and bodybuilders who wish to burn fat. Most weightlifters take L-Carnitine before their aerobic exercise so that fat stores in their bodies are used for fuel.

• Improve bone mass: As we age, the carnitine in our bodies naturally diminishes. Bones are affected because of L-Carnitine’s role in certain metabolic functions they require to maintain mass. A diet high in L-Carnitine, as well as nutritional supplement, aid bodybuilders as they age so as to maintain the bone mass necessary for continued health.

• Other benefits: L-Carnitine also increases muscle mass, reduces fatigue, aids in muscle repair and improves liver function by removing fat. In addition to these bodybuilding-related benefits, L-Carnitine can also improve such health conditions as kidney disease, male infertility and an overactive thyroid.
